This typeface is designed based on the calligraphy of Heber J. Grant. The story goes that his penmanship was notoriously bad. He then decided to improve his handwriting and worked for many years to make his script beautiful. Many of these letters were taken from a scan of a Christmas card, with most of the capital letters an interpretation based on the existing characters available in the card.
